Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair: The Dallas Owner’s Guide
Rotobrush duct sealing and repair in Dallas typically runs $220 to $480 installed, depending on your machine’s series and which components failed. We stock Rotobrush-compatible sealing cartridges, applicator heads, hose assemblies, and drive couplings on our service trucks, and most repairs are completed in under two hours. How most Dallas owners discover the problem: the machine starts leaving wet sealant streaks on flex duct instead of a clean coat, or the head pressure drops mid-job and the brush stalls against a seam.
You’ll usually see it before you hear it. Rotobrush systems spray atomized sealant through a rotating head, and when a seal or coupling starts to go, the pattern turns uneven or the cartridge empties faster than it should. If you’re in Dallas running a Rotobrush in attic heat during August, we see more seal failures than anywhere else in the country, because the polymer cures slower in high humidity and the hoses flex harder when they’re hot. Linden Air Duct Dallas is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Rotobrush, but we’ve worked on these machines long enough to know exactly which parts fail first and which replacements actually hold up in Texas conditions.
Which Rotobrush Models This Applies To
Rotobrush has cycled through several machine generations since the original AiR+ and the sdS series, and the sealing and repair parts are not all interchangeable across them. The most common units we see in Dallas service trucks and restoration vans are the Rotobrush aiR+ SC, the Roto-Vision 2, and the older sdS and BOSS series that are still running strong a decade in.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that catches most owners: the sealing cartridge for an aiR+ series will not seat properly in a BOSS unit, even though both cartridges look nearly identical on a shelf. The drive coupling on the aiR+ has a 6-spline insert, while the BOSS uses a 4-spline, and forcing the wrong one strips the drive seat in about three minutes. Before you order anything, look at the data plate on the rear housing near the power switch. It lists the series name and the serial prefix. Our techs always photograph that plate before quoting a part, because Marcus Veale made it a rule after watching a Dallas contractor argue with a supplier about which unit he actually owned. If your label is worn off, measure the cartridge neck diameter: 1.85 inches on aiR+, 1.62 inches on BOSS. Wrong measurement means wrong part, no exceptions.
On OEM versus aftermarket: Rotobrush-branded sealing parts carry a premium, and for the internal wear items like o-rings and check valves, quality aftermarket equivalents are usually fine and cost 30 to 40 percent less. For the sealing head itself and the drive coupling, we recommend OEM or a known commercial brand, simply because tolerances matter when the head spins at the speeds Rotobrush pushes. A slightly loose aftermarket coupling will wobble, and a wobbling coupling chews the shaft bearing. That repair costs more than the OEM part ever would have.
We also stock sealing and repair parts for Lennox, Trane, and Carrier duct systems, if you’re running mixed-brand equipment on the same job site.

Signs Your Rotobrush Duct Sealing & Repair Is Failing
- Uneven sealant coverage on the duct wall. The head is no longer atomizing evenly, which usually means the spray tip is partially blocked or the cartridge seal has degraded and air is bypassing. You’ll see thick streaks alternating with bare spots.
- Cartridge draining much faster than normal. A failed internal check valve lets sealant flow back into the supply line instead of holding pressure at the head. You’re paying for product that’s coating the inside of the hose, not the duct.
- The brush head stalls or chatters against seams. This is almost always a worn drive coupling or a shaft bearing starting to seize. In Dallas summers with attic temps above 140 degrees, bearing grease breaks down fast and this failure accelerates.
- Sealant dripping from the machine after shutdown. The nozzle seal at the cartridge neck has failed. Besides making a mess in your truck, it means the next startup will airlock the supply line and you’ll get a dry spray for the first several feet.
- Unusual vibration through the hose. The shaft is no longer running true. Run it much longer and the vibration transfers into the head threads and cross-threads the cartridge seat, which turns a $40 part into a $300 repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included
Here’s what we charge in Dallas, in writing, before any work starts:
- Sealing cartridge replacement (Rotobrush-compatible): $220 – $310 installed, including the cartridge and a full supply-line flush.
- Drive coupling replacement: $180 – $260 installed, including shaft inspection and bearing check.
- Spray tip and head seal kit: $160 – $230 installed.
- Full head assembly replacement: $340 – $480 installed, depending on series and whether the shaft is still serviceable.
One price per job, agreed before the first tool comes out. Every repair includes a written guarantee covering the replaced part for 365 days, and if a covered repair fails, we return for free and make it right. That’s the 365-Day Done Right Promise, and it’s on every invoice. We don’t charge a trip fee in the Dallas metro for repair calls that turn into work, and we don’t upsell you a full machine rebuild because one o-ring wore out.
DIY or Call Us?
What you can safely check yourself: look at the data plate, confirm your series, and inspect the cartridge neck for dried sealant crust. That crust tells you the nozzle seal has been weeping, which is a five-minute fix with the right kit. What we’d tell you not to do yourself: opening the drive housing. The Rotobrush drive shaft spins at high speed and the coupling is under constant spring tension. If the retaining spring releases while you’re prying the old coupling off, it hits fingertips at more force than you want to think about. We’ve seen two Dallas owners in the last year who tried, and both ended up with a broken part that cost more than the original repair.
Marcus’s standard on this is the same as everything else we touch: “If I wouldn’t leave it in my own system, I’m not leaving it in yours.” We carry Rotobrush-compatible sealing parts on the truck, so when we arrive, the repair usually happens the same visit. If you’re not sure whether the problem is the cartridge, the coupling, or something deeper in the motor drive, call us at (361) 309-3153 and describe what the machine is doing. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a $200 fix or a bigger job, and the estimate is free either way.
FAQs
Expect 18 to 30 months of regular use before cartridges, tips, and seals need replacement, though Dallas attic heat can shorten that to as little as 12 months if your machine sits in a truck or van with no climate control between jobs. The polymer seals harden faster above 140 degrees, which we see on Dallas summer days without exception. Call (361) 309-3153 if your parts are failing faster than that; there may be a supply-line pressure issue making the wear worse.
Sometimes. If only the spray tip and neck seal are worn, rebuilding the existing head costs $160 to $230. If the atomizer is cracked or the shaft is scored, replacement is the honest answer, and we’ll show you the damaged part before we charge for the new one. We don’t rebuild a head that won’t hold spec under Dallas attic heat.
Most cartridge, seal, and coupling replacements take 45 to 90 minutes on site. A full head assembly swap can run two hours on an aiR+ series. We bring the parts with us, so it’s usually one visit, one price, done.
Our Dallas service trucks carry Rotobrush-compatible cartridges, couplings, spray tips, and O-ring kits for the aiR+, Roto-Vision 2, sdS, and BOSS series. If you need a full head assembly or an uncommon bearing, we can usually have it in hand within two business days. Call (361) 309-3153 and tell us your series; we’ll confirm if the part is on the truck before we schedule.
