Worth knowing

That "$99 whole-house special" is a bait ad - the real number appears once they are in your hallway, or the "clean" is a shop-vac at the register. We photograph the inside of your ducts before and after instead.

Air Duct Cleaning Before & After in Dallas, TX

We can describe negative-pressure extraction, HEPA filtration, and the rest of the trade’s vocabulary until the cows come home. But the moment you see what actually came out of someone’s ducts, everything clicks. These photos show real jobs we’ve handled across Dallas, from North Oak Cliff to Far North Dallas. The dust, the pet hair, the thirty-year-old flex duct that should’ve been replaced a decade ago. Seeing is believing.

30-Year-Old Ducts in a Lake Highlands Split-Level

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Before: return side of a Lake Highlands duct system that had never been professionally cleaned. The dark gray matting along the duct walls was a mix of construction dust, skin cells, and pet dander, some of it older than the homeowner’s kids.
BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
After: same duct, same angle, after Rotobrush negative-pressure extraction and contact cleaning. The metal is clean enough to read the manufacturer’s stamp again.

This system had three decades of buildup in it, including a stretch of flex duct so brittle it crumbled when touched. We replaced the failed flex runs with new insulated duct, cleaned every supply and return, and sealed the plenum connections. The homeowner told us the hallway didn’t smell like a thrift store basement anymore. That’s the review we want.

Post-Renovation Drywall Dust in a Bishop Arts Loft

BeforeBeforeAfterAfter
Before: every surface inside this duct was fogged white with drywall dust after a kitchen renovation. The contractor had run the HVAC during the project, which pushed fine gypsum powder through the entire system.

After: post-extraction. The gypsum film is gone from the supply runs, and we replaced the return filter media, which had been doing the work of a sandbag.

Renovation dust is sneaky. It settles into ducts and releases itself back into the air every time the blower kicks on, which means the homeowner kept tasting drywall for weeks after the contractor left. We ran negative-pressure extraction on every supply and return, then wiped down the accessible runs. The white film in the before photo did not survive the afternoon.

Pet Hair and Dander in a North Dallas Two-Story

Technician using industrial vacuum hose for professional air duct cleaning service
Before: three dogs and two cats lived here. The return side of this system looked like the inside of a vacuum cleaner bag, with hair matted into the duct walls and wrapped around the damper blades.
Technician using a professional air duct cleaning tool inside HVAC system
After: the matted hair is gone, and the damper moves freely again. We also replaced the filter with a MERV-11 media filter from Aprilaire, which the homeowner now changes quarterly instead of annually.

If you have multiple shedding animals, your ducts are doing more filtering than your filter is. This North Dallas job needed contact agitation before extraction because the hair had compressed into the duct walls like felt. Once we broke the mat loose, the Rotobrush pulled it all to the negative-pressure collector. The system’s airflow measurably improved on the return side, which meant the upstairs bedrooms finally held temperature in August.

Dryer Vent Lint Trap Bypass in an Oak Cliff Bungalow

Technician connecting flexible dryer vent hose to wall exhaust duct
Before: the dryer vent on this 1940s Oak Cliff bungalow was so packed with lint that the flap couldn’t open. Clothes took two cycles to dry, and the laundry room stayed humid for hours after each load.
Technician using a rotary brush tool for professional dryer vent cleaning
After: we rodded the full vent run, cleared the exterior termination, and vacuumed the cavity behind the dryer. The flap now opens fully when the dryer runs, and the client’s dry time dropped back to a single cycle.

This is the trade’s real phrase for what happens when lint bypasses the dryer’s own trap and packs into the vent pipe. In older Dallas bungalows like this one, the vent run is often long, narrow, and corrugated, which makes it a lint magnet. We cleared the entire run and verified airflow at the exterior hood. The client’s gas dryer had been overheating, and this fix brought the exhaust temperature back down where it belongs.

Mold-Stained Supply Runs in a Richardson Border Home

Technician performing professional dryer vent cleaning with a rotary brush tool
Before: condensation had been forming inside these supply runs for years, leaving dark mildew staining along the duct walls. The homeowner had noticed a musty smell whenever the AC cycled on.
Technician performing professional air duct repair and cleaning using vacuum equipment
After: we removed the biological growth with HEPA vacuuming and an EPA-registered antimicrobial treatment from Abatement Technologies, then verified the humidity problem that caused the condensation and corrected the supply plenum insulation gap.

You cannot just wipe mold out of a duct and call it done. We extracted the visible growth, treated the affected surfaces, and then found and fixed the condensation source, which was a missing insulation section at the plenum. Without that last step, the mold would have been back by next summer. The musty odor was gone within 48 hours, and the homeowner now runs a Honeywell dehumidifier in the utility closet during shoulder seasons.

Smoke Damage After a Kitchen Fire in East Dallas

Technician using a rotary brush tool for professional air duct cleaning services
Before: a small kitchen fire had pushed smoke through the whole house, leaving a greasy black film on every branch of this duct system. The smell was inescapable, even after the walls and ceilings were repainted.
Technician using professional cleaning brush for residential air duct vent
After: we ran multiple passes with a HEPA-filtered negative air machine, then used an odor-neutralizing treatment from Guardsman. The greasy soot layer is gone, and the smoke smell no longer comes back when the AC runs.

Smoke residue is not ordinary dust. It is grease mixed with carbon, and it clings to every surface it touches, including the inside of your ducts. If you only clean the walls after a fire, the HVAC will keep reintroducing the smell for years. This East Dallas client had already repainted twice before calling us. The fix was cleaning the system, not another coat of Kilz.
